While the state average for regular fuel has dropped by 5 cents a gallon this past week, the southeast part of the Show Me State has seen little in terms of lower fuel costs. County and municipal averages remain largely the same as they did in the middle of August.

On a statewide level, Missouri has seen regular fuel costs fall from averages of $3.08 to just $3.03 a gallon, with diesel averages dipping from $3.38 per gallon to $3.36 per gallon. Both are well below national regular and diesel fuel averages of $3.35 and $3.71 per gallon, respectively.

Nationwide fuel trends continue to see south-central states enjoy the lowest fuel costs. Drivers in states bordering the Pacific Ocean contend with the highest.

• Bollinger: $3.11;

• Cape Girardeau: $3.09;

• Perry: $3.05;

• Scott: $3.10.

• Cape Girardeau: $2.94 to $3.99;

• Jackson: $2.99 to $3.19;

• Marble Hill: $3.06;

• Perryville: $2.99 to $3.09;

• Scott City: $3.17 to $3.19.
