The Missouri College and Career Attainment Network (MOCAN) is offering free virtual Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) support sessions for Cape Girardeau area students throughout July.

According to a news release from MOCAN, Missouri students “continue to fall behind the national average” for FAFSA completions largely because of technical difficulties suffered earlier in the year, which caused a late start for the application process.

The release also states that $78,820,804 in Pell Grants were left unclaimed in 2023 and, as of June 21, only 41.6% of the 2024 high school class has completed the FAFSA application in Missouri.

The sessions will offer one-on-one assistance with staff and financial aid experts who will assist with application completion and answer questions in two-hour blocks from 10 a.m. to noon every Monday and from 5 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday.
