District 148 state Rep. Jamie Burger won the Republican nomination in a three-way primary race for the District 27 state Senate in the election Tuesday, Aug. 6

In what became a tight race between Burger and Jacob Turner, Burger won against Turner and Christina Dinkins for the nomination. Burger secured 40.88% of the votes with 13,121 while Turner had 37.17% with 11,929 votes.

The District 27 seat is currently held by Holly Rehder who ran for lieutenant governor in the primary election. The district contains Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Iron, Madison, Perry, Reynolds and Scott County.

Burger has served two terms in the House of Representatives and will serve a four-year term as senator if elected in November.

Hovis secures Republican nomination for District 146 state House

District 146 state Rep. Barry Hovis won the Republican nomination for the District 146 representative seat over Lucas Green in the Tuesday, Aug. 6, primary election.

Hovis of Whitewater took his spot as representative in 2018 after winning against Democrat Gayla Dace. District 146 encompasses Cape Girardeau County. Hovis won with 4,554 votes with Green getting 3,890 votes.

If elected in November, Hovis will start another two-year term.

Wolfin wins Republican nomination for District 145 state House seat

Bryant Wolfin secured the Republican nomination for District 145 state House of Representative seat over opponent Dave Soto in the primary election Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Wolfin of Ste. Genevieve is a businessman and had previously served on the Ste. Genevieve Board of Aldermen. District 145 contains Perry and Ste. Genevieve counties.

Wolfin won with 3,598 votes across both counties while Soto recorded 3,043 votes, according to the unofficial results.

Wolfin, if elected in November, will serve a two-year term.
